The function of an organization is to develop the people in the organization. As a Broker and leader, I take that statement and the obligation it implies seriously. I encourage everyone in our firm to continue learning and growing. As a company, we offer personal development courses you just won't find at other firms. We invite our staff to attend these courses to insure the culture is carried throughout the organization from employees to agents to the management team.

If you want to succeed as an agent, and were to ask for some advice, I'd say:

1. Target your market. Bill Cosby said "I may not know the secret to success, but I know the secret to failure - try to please everybody." Just because you have a real estate license and want to help people - sometimes the most help you can give them is to send them to someone else. Figure out where your talents and gifts are and then target the appropriate market and learn to serve it with excellence.

2. Have a backup. You can't be everywhere, all the time. It's a fact that the more care you take of your personal life - the better your professional life will be. Some agents make the mistake of wanting to make sure they get every deal and help every customer every time. This means they fail to delegate to a competent backup and make time off a priority.
